The Neurodivergent Travel Prep Checklist

Built with neurodivergent needs in mind — useful for any brain that carries too much. Check things off here, or print it and stick it by the door.

Before leaving

Tickets / confirmations saved somewhere I can find them
ID and documents in one place
Phone + charger (and a backup battery if it’s a long day)
Medication, packed where I can reach it
Water bottle and a snack
Comfort item
Clothes packed (check the weather once, then stop checking)

Sensory supports

Headphones or earplugs
Sunglasses or a hat
Something to fidget with
Gum, mints, or a familiar taste
A downloaded playlist, podcast, or show (works offline)

Timing

I know what time I need to leave
I added buffer time so I don’t have to rush
Alarms set — one to get ready, one to leave
I know what happens first when I arrive

Backup plan

I know what I’ll do if plans change
Important numbers are written down, not just in my phone
I know where I could take a break if I need one

If I get overwhelmed

My “first move” when it’s too much: find quiet / breathe / headphones on
Person I can contact: ______________________
One sentence I can show someone if speaking is hard

Recovery after arrival

Drink water
Eat something
Unpacking can wait — rest first
Note one thing that worked and one thing to change next time

My Travel Buddy turns this checklist into a living plan — a Planner can build it ahead of time, with guided packing, document tracking, reminders, and an “I’m overwhelmed” button for the Traveler. See how it works →
